Private inland container depots increase import handling charge by 34%

Owners of private inland container depots (ICDs) has started raising charges for different services specially those run by diesel due to the fuel price hike.

As part of the move, they increased tariff for import container handling package by around 34 percent with an effect from today (August 11, 2022).

Bangladesh Inland Container Depots Association (BICDA) issued a circular in this regard today.

BICDA Secretary General Md Ruhul Amin Sikder told The Daily Star that they initially have raised the tariff for import container handling service in line with recent diesel price hike.

The BICDA members are still in discussion for raising charges of four other services including export stuffing package, haulage charge, lift on/lift off and VGM charge where equipment and vehicles are operated using diesel.
