Book on youth entrepreneurship launched
A book on entrepreneurship and startup ecosystem development, which focuses on the Bangladeshi prospective youth entrepreneurs, has been unveiled.
The book titled 'Youth Entrepreneurship: how to start with …? 'was launched at a programme at the GDLN Centre of Brac University on April 26, 2017, according to a release.
Professor of Brac Business School Dr AB Mirza Md Azizul Islam, also a former adviser of the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh for the ministries of Finance, Planning, and Posts & Telecommunications, attended the event as the chief guest and unveiled the book, while Asif Mahmood, founder and chairman of ADN Group, attended as the programme as the guest of honour, the release read.
Syed Rabius Shams, who authored and published the book, discussed on how to tune ideas, sources of funding, promoting a startup, and overcoming the obstacles ahead of an entrepreneurial journey in his writings through real-life examples of growing businesses.
Shams also came up with innovative ideas in addition to public communication activities to enable the readers understand how ideas are generated and can be implemented effectively. The book also displays the comportment expected of students and young startup leaders to comply with the objective of 'creating jobs through promoting entrepreneurship'.
The author has written extensively in various publications on this issue at home and on abroad and the book has come as a compendium of those writings.
Comments from distinguished academicians, entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and development activists along with articles from five aspiring writers have also been included in the book, the release added.
"Optimism, determination and innovation are crucial for youth entrepreneurship, which can be found from the book," said Dr Azizul Islam.
"Such books should be used as academic references in universities and institutions. I believe more writers will come forward to unveil the entrepreneurial spirit of Bangladesh," he added.
Itrat Husain, council member and former president of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB); Razib Ahmed, president of E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB); Sanjana Farid, regional head (Asia & Asia Pacific) of Instant Cash FZE; AZM Saifuddin Saif, managing director of Paper Rhyme Advertising Ltd; Tania Wahab, proprietor of Tan and managing partner of Karigar; and Kazi Sazedur Rahman, proprietor of KPC Paper Cup, were also present at the programme as special guests.
