Customs authorities are planning to auction off a total of 44 cars, including 24 Toyota Land Cruiser ZX vehicles which were bought for former MPs.

Customs did not release the vehicles as those who imported them are no longer MPs and cannot release them under the duty-free facility.

Other vehicles are 10 dump trucks, five Harriers, two Rav4s, one Esquire, and two Land Cruisers. Their owners failed to provide documents on time.

Most of the vehicles were imported from Japan and Singapore and have 3,000cc to 4,000cc engines.

The auction process will begin on February 2 and will remain open to bidders until February 16.

Md Shakib Hossain, assistant commissioner of Customs House, Chattogram, said, bidders can physically inspect the vehicles on February 2-4 and buy those through e-tender.
