PM submits tax returns

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today submitted her income tax returns for 2018-19 fiscal at the income tax fair in Dhaka.

Siddiqur Rahman Chowdhury, former finance secretary, submitted the tax return on behalf of the prime minister at the Officers’ Club, on the first day of the fair.

When asked about the amount of the prime minister’s tax return, NBR Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said he cannot disclose the amount as it is her (PM) personal matter.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and his family members also submitted their income tax returns during the tax fair.  

The finance minister said he and his family members returned Tk 7.5 crore as tax.

Grameenphone, the country’s leading telecom company, submitted Tk 150 crore while Islami Bank Tk 100 crore as their annual income tax at the fair.
