Bandwidth wholesale price reduced by 15%
Wholesale price of internet bandwidth has been reduced by 15 percent to discourage imports from India and dispose of its huge amount of unused bandwidth, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Ltd (BSCCL) officials say.
International gateway operators and internet service providers will mostly benefit from the price cut, but new price will not affect end users costs, said BSCCL Managing Director Mashiur Rahman.
The state-owned company has fixed the wholesale price at Tk 310 for each megabit per second (Mbps) of bandwidth in its first submarine cable landing station in Cox's Bazar, Rahman said.
The lone state-run submarine cable company is now supplying 352 Mbps bandwidth while another two Mbps also imported from India through International Terrestrial Cable link.
