6 mobile operators pay Tk 855cr revenue
The government has earned Taka 855 crore as revenue from the six mobile phone operator companies during fiscal 2016-17, State Minister for Post and Telecommunication Tarana Halim told parliament today.
In reply to lawmakers' queries, she said of the total revenues, Grameenphone has paid Taka 430.99 crore, Robi Axiata paid Taka 221.70 crore, Banglalink paid Taka 161.36 crore, Airtel Taka 14.86 crore, Pacific Bangladesh Telecom Limited Taka 11.04 crore and the government owned Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd paid Taka 15.06 crore as revenue.
In reply to another query, the state minister said revenue collection of postal services department has been increasing gradually.
"Postal services department earned Tk 325 crore till May of the current fiscal while the collection was Tk 301.18 crore in 2015-16, Tk 253.17 crore in 2014-15 and Tk 219.13 crore in 2013-14 fiscal," she said.
