Work underway to operate flights 24/7 at all airports: state minister for civil aviation

State Minister for Civil Aviation M Mahbub Ali today said that work is underway to operate flights 24 hours a day at all airports in the country.

"From February next year, flights will be operated 24 hours a day at Cox's Bazar Airport. This will be gradually extended to all other airports in the country," he said.

The junior minister was speaking at a programme at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The programme was organised to inaugurate the extension of the internal terminal of HSIA, the corner set up at the international exit hall for the brave freedom fighters and senior citizens of the country on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the inauguration of the passenger arrival lounge at Saidpur Airport.

In his speech, the state minister said the country's aviation sector is going through a revolution under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

"The image of the country's aviation sector is changing," he added.

The junior minister said development work is underway at all international and domestic airports in the country as per the directives of the PM.

"After completion of these development activities, the country's airports will be a place of confidence and comfort for passengers," he added.

The state minister said the progress of construction of the third terminal of HSIA is satisfactory.

"Ten percent of the total work has already been completed. The existing first and second terminals will be renovated in line with the completion of the construction work of the third terminal. Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will be one of the most sophisticated airports in the region," he also said.

Senior Secretary of Civil Aviation Ministry Md Mohibul Haque; Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman; Chief Engineer Md Abdul Malek; Director, HSIA, Group Captain Touhid-ul-Ahsan, among others, also spoke at the programme.
