3-day media tech bootcamp kicks off at RU
A three-day Media Tech Bootcamp 2019 kicked off at Rajshahi University today aiming to give the participants a hands-on experience in coming up with innovative solutions to new media challenges.
Organised jointly by the RU and DW Akademie, students of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) department and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department of the university, journalists of Radio Today, Channel i and The Daily Star are taking part in the bootcamp being held at the Dr MA Wazed Miah Academic Building on the campus.
The bootcamp will cover issues and problems which the media outlets are facing and how to refine technology-driven journalism for the future.
Participants will be involved in brainstorming sessions to generate innovative ideas and share it among each others.

The bootcamp brought together media experts, practitioners, students and technologists to create innovative, usable online platforms, tools or mobile apps for news and information sharing in Bangladesh.
During the three days, the participants in several teams will develop a tool, project or app that will be used by media houses and help boost their career prospects.
A jury will select the three best solutions from this challenge, and DW Akademie will help the winning teams realise their ideas – with additional mentoring and funding of 200,000 BDT for each winning team.

Around 30 students of two departments participated on the first day of the boot-camp programme.
On the concluding session of the bootcamp Vice Chancellor of the University Prof M Abdus Sobhan will attend as the chief guest and hand over prize money to the winning teams at Deans' Complex Building at the university.
