Plenty of confusion with what is Uber. Is it anyone's car that is lying around? Is it a taxi? Is it a plane?  The confusion stems from Uber itself for pretending to be like Johnny Depp: reclusive and quiet. Except Depp can handle the grief. Can Uber?

Here's the difference between three similar public rides.

Uber: It's a transportation service dependent on an app. In Bangladesh, the drivers are car owners holding business licenses. Basically, they own rental cars. So no, you can't use your dad's lousy Allion as a taxi even though it is as good as one. Uber cars in BD are rental cars that would otherwise just be sitting idle. These cars are connected via an app to a person in the area that needs a ride. Like a taxi, but not quite, eh?

Taxi: Cars meant only for transporting people across town based on a fare. They are designated by specific colourful liveries. They often smell. They hate Uber. Purely used for commercial purpose.

Shaer-a-car: We have an in-charge called Shaer. He has a Camry. It sometimes runs, other times it serves as a mushroom garden. We often use his car for a being dropped to destinations along his route, also known as carpooling. For this we sometimes give him money, but mostly we give him advice and friendly verbal abuse. Carpooling is not a commercial service. Shaer-a-cars may also break down often.
