FM Tahsin Zia gets backing from Berger Paints
Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd has recently come forward to extend their support to Fide Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia, son of the late Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman, in a bid to help Tahsin achieve his "professional and personal goals" in the coming days.
Tasmin Sultana, mother of Tahsin, informed that Berger Paints Bangladesh last month signed a one-year deal to help Tahsin participate in overseas tournaments.
Tahsin had participated in various chess tournaments abroad, accompanied by his father GM Zia, who passed away while playing a chess match in August last year. Ever since, the chess prodigy has been facing financial constraints in participating in overseas tournaments.
"Recognising his potential and the legacy he carries, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited extended their support by partnering with Tahsin. This collaboration aims to provide him with the necessary resources to achieve his professional and personal goals, while also highlighting Berger's commitment to corporate social responsibility. By supporting Tahsin, Berger Paints underscores their belief that nurturing national talent contributes to the country's overall development," read an official statement from Berger Paints Bangladesh.
The statement also read: "Tahsin's journey is a testament to resilience and dedication. Despite the challenges, he continues to strive towards attaining higher titles in chess, with aspirations of becoming an International Master and eventually a Grandmaster.
"His story serves as an inspiration to many young athletes in Bangladesh, demonstrating the importance of perseverance and the positive impact of corporate support in nurturing national talent."
