Cleansed by The Bay
Thousands of Hindu devotees gather at Rani Rashmoni Ghat to observe the three-day Baruni Snan. Praying for the eternal peace of the departed loved ones, they dip in the waters of the Bay of Bengal at the spot considered to be holy. Among the Hindu community, there is a belief that dipping in the waters of such places will help to cleanse one of his sins, impurities and diseases. It is also considered to be a step towards salvation. The yearly festival is celebrated across the sub-continent.
