Final Stretch Made Difficult
Just like the year before, early rains have put farmers across the country in trouble. As they were getting ready to reap the benefits of their hard work, the rains in many cases swamped and flattened the paddy. Some lost their crops. Many farmers had to harvest early. Some had to use boats as their fields in the low-lying areas were in knee-deep water. Finding space for drying the paddy has also become a challenge. The government plans to buy 10 lakh tonnes of Boro paddy and rice by August this year. The photos were taken from different districts across the country.
