City Gears up For Polls

Offices of different political parties around the city wear a festive look just before the 11th general election. The sales of nomination forms have kicked off in high spirits, with different elements adding to the ambience of festivity. Musical performances, processions garnished with beautified political symbols, non-stop chanting of slogans make for a colourful beginning to the upcoming polls. The addition of some movie and cricket stars, such as Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza, to the mix only serves to add to the glamour of the whole proceedings. People throng the offices, not only for a chance at a ticket, but also to sneak a peek at some of the political heavyweights of the country. With much fanfare, the next general election promises to be an exciting affair.
