Jabbarer Boli Khela
Like each year, Jabbarer Boli Khela took place at the Laldighi Maidan in Chattogram on April 25. Sixty wrestlers took part in the 114th edition of the historic tournament. According to its organisers, Abdul Jabbar Saudagar, a merchant from Badarpati in Chattogram city, started this wrestling competition on Baishakh 12 in Bangla 1316 (1909 AD). His aim was to prepare the youth for the anti-British movement by keeping them physically fit. Though British rule ended more than 7 decades ago, the yearly tournament accompanied by a three-day fair still draws a large crowd from across the country.
