2 ‘grenades’ found in Dhaka

Police claimed to have recovered two grenades in Dakkhinkhan area of Dhaka tonight.

Locals found a bag abandoned in Gualtak area around 7:00pm and later informed the law enforcers suspecting explosives in the bag.

On information, police cordoned off the area and informed the bomb disposal unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Rahamatullah Chowdhury, additional deputy commissioner of bomb disposal unit of DMP, told The Daily Star that they found two grenades in the bag.

“Neo JMB militants were seen using such kind of explosives earlier,” he said.

“That area is a densely populated. So, none was arrested. The drive is underway,” Nurul Alam, additional deputy commissioner (Dakkhinkhan) of Uttara Division Police, told The Daily Star around 10:00pm.
