ASP Mizan murder: 2 suspects killed in Dhaka ‘gunfights’
Four people including two suspected killers of ASP Mizanur Rahman were killed in separate “gunfights” in Dhaka and Kushtia today.
Two alleged robbers -- Sobhan Ali, 35, and Hasanuzzaman Lalon, 40, were killed reportedly in two separate gunfights in Kushtia while names of the two suspects of ASP Mizanur murder could not be known, police said.
Earlier on June 21, Mizanur Rahman, an assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Savar highway circle, was killed by unidentified assailants hours after he left his Uttara residence to join work at Kaliakoir in Gazipur.
In Dhaka, the "gunfight" took place when a team of Detective Branch of police, acting on a tip-off, went to Rupnagar Beribadh area to nab a group of "muggers" around 3:30am today, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Two of the "muggers" sustained injuries during the "gunfight". They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared them dead around 7:00am, the police official said.
After the “gunfight”, the law enforcers seized a private car and two firearms from the spot.
The raid was conducted based on the information given by Shah Alam alias Alam alias Budda who was arrested from Tongi, on the outskirts of Dhaka, on July 22 in connection with the ASP murder, DC Masudur said.
In primary interrogation, Shah Alam said he and three other persons -- Faruk, Kamal and Mintu -- took part in the killing.
In Kushtia, “robbers” -- Sobhan and Hasanuzzaman -- were killed in two separate “gunfights” on Kushtia-Pabna highway around 4:30am today, reports our local correspondents quoting police.
Sobhan and Hasanuzzaman were accused of many robbery cases.
