2 RU BCL activists beaten by litchi guards
Guards of litchi orchard said to have beaten two students of Rajshahi University who are top leaders of the campus’ Bangladesh Chhatra League unit.
Mahmudur Rahman Kanon of applied mathematics department and Mehedi Hasan Ashik of international relations were hospitalised with fractured limbs.
The incident took place last night around 9:30pm, Faisal Ahmed Runu, general secretary of the campus unit’s Chhatra League told our campus correspondent.
They locked into altercation with the guards of the litchi orchard, near Rokeya Hall, and gave out their identity of Chhatra League leaders.
“When they gave the identity of Chhatra League leaders, around 10 people pounced on them with sticks and beat them indiscriminately,” Faisal said.
Kanon, research affairs secretary of BCL, suffered fractures in his two hands and Ashik in one of his legs, he said quoting Rajshahi Medical College Hospital doctors.
RU BCL leader Imran filed a murder attempt case with Motihar Police Station accusing 11 persons, said Shahadat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station.
A person named Ashish was arrested from Kajla area this morning.
