3 ‘Neo JMB’ men held in Dhaka
Law enforcers detained three alleged operatives of “Neo JMB”, an ultra-radical offshoot of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area this afternoon.
A team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a raid around 2:00pm in Mohammadpur area and detained the trio, Mohibul Islam Khan, deputy commissioner of CTTC, told The Daily Star.
The arrestees are: Md Kamrul Islam Shakil alias Robot alias Tanzim, 25, Md Jamil Uddin Tushar alias Raju Hassan, 22, and Md Al Amin alias Jahid, 21.
Police also seized explosive materials including 100 detonators, a knife and a mobile phone from their possession, the police official said.
In primary interrogation, the law enforcers came to know that Kamrul is a supplier of bomb-making and explosive materials, Tushar is a recruiter, and Jahid is a recruiter and instructor in the militant outfit, DC Mohibul said.
They used to attend different secret meetings and exchange arms and explosives across the country in a bid to carry out anti-state activities, he added.
