3.24kg gold seized at Dhaka airport
Customs Intelligence seized 3.24 kilogrammes of gold from the possession of two Bangladeshi passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka last night.
The authorities detained the passengers -- Mahmuda Hossain, 26, and Md Nurulllah Noor, 45.
The duo arrived in Dhaka from Kuala Lumpur by an aircraft of Malaysia Airlines (MH 196 Flight), said Umme Nahida Akter, an assistant director of customs intelligence at the airport.
The intelligence official found four gold bars weighing around 2.44 kg from inside Mahmud's shoes while 800 grammes gold from Nurulllah.
The market value of the seized gold is over Tk 2 crore, she said.
