41 ‘Shibir men’ held at Farmgate

Police this evening detained 41 suspected leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami,from a Farmgate hotel in Dhaka.

Tipped off, a team from Tejgaon police around 5:30pm conducted a raid at Hotel Givenci where the Shibir men were holding a meeting, said Biplob Kumar Sarker, deputy commissioner (Tejgaon Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Several central Shibir leaders are among the detainees, he said adding that the law enforcers will investigate the reason behind the meeting.
