A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today snapped the power supply of 22 factories and fined their owners Tk 26 lakh for manufacturing banned polythene in Old Dhaka’s Sowari Ghat area.

A team of the elite force led by its Executive Magistrate Sarwoer Alam conducted a drive there and seized 85 tonnes of polythene and raw materials for manufacturing polythene from the factories, Sarwoer Alam told The Daily Star.

Three buildings in which three of the factories operated were identified as vulnerable during the drive and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) was asked to take necessary steps in this regard, he added.
