Husband arrested for breaking singer Mila's arm

Popular pop singer Mila has suffered a broken arm, allegedly subjected to domestic violence by her husband. The husband has been arrested in connection to a case filed in this regard.

The husband, Pervez Sanjary, pilot of a privately-run domestic airline company, has been arrested in this connection, said Ali Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge of the Uttara West Police Station.

Tasbiha Binte Mila filed a case under Women and Children Repression Act last night. Mila was tortured and subsequently suffered a broken left arm in her Uttara house on October 1.

Lt Col Shahidul Islam (retd), father of Mila, told The Daily Star that his son in-law had a notorious character and had some scandals with women. It inflicted family feud between the two.

Pervez Sanjary was produced before Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court today with a five-day remand prayer. The court has sent him to jail keeping the hearing on waiting.

The husband complained against Mila’s character to police, said police.

According to Mila’s father, the two were married on May 12 this year. Their conjugal life was led to the path of unhappiness as Pervez’s scandals came to surface.

Pervez used to abuse Mila regularly over family feud and dowry, Col Shaheed said.

Lastly, on October 1, the husband allegedly burned her with cigarette butts and tortured her physically. She was rescued from her house by her father. She was hospitalised at Dhaka Medical College Hospital the next day and transferred to one-stop crisis centre. Bilkis Begum, coordinator of the one-stop crisis centre, told The Daily Star Mila had injuries all over her body.
