Bus helper remanded for ‘abusing DU student’

A Dhaka court today placed a bus helper on a three-day remand in a case filed against him for verbally abusing a Dhaka University student yesterday.

Metropolitan Magistrate SM Masud Zaman passed the order when police produced Mamun, a helper of Shukhtara Paribahan, before the court seeking a seven-day remand for him.

Earlier in the day, Raihanuzzaman, a sub-inspector of Mirpur Darussalam Police Station, placed the remand prayer for Mamun, who allegedly abused the DU’s geography student verbally on her way to the capital’s Gabtoli from Manikganj.

Mamun was held in Manikganj after the victim filed the case against him with Darussalam Police Station under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
