ACC to investigate Papia’s wealth
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will investigate the alleged illegal wealth amassed by expelled Jubo Mohila League leader Shamima Nur Papia, ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood said today.
The anti-graft watchdog will also find Papia's patrons, he added.
"No one will be spared," Iqbal said.
The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Papia and her husband from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday.
According to Rab, Papia -- aided by her husband Mofizur Rahman Sumon -- ran a prostitution and arms racket.
The elite force on Sunday raided two flats belonging to Papia and Sumon after her arrest and seized counterfeit notes, foreign currencies and around Tk 2.5 lakh from their possession.
Raiding the two flats on Indira Road and a presidential suite at a five-star hotel, Rab recovered around Tk 58 lakh in cash.
