ACC summons DIG Mizanur
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today summoned Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman to appear before it on May 3 for allegedly acquiring illegal wealth and on various allegations of corruption.
ACC sent a letter to the office of DIG Mizanur asking him to appear before its Segunbagicha headquarters around 9:30 am on the day, UNB reports quoting Public Relations Officer of ACC Kanak Kumar Bhattacharya.
Farid Ahmed Patwary, deputy director of the anti-crime watchdog, is investigating the allegations on acquiring illegal wealth and corruptions, he told the private news agency.
Mizanur Rahman, who allegedly married a woman forcibly and tortured her, was withdrawn from Dhaka Metropolitan Police and attached to the police headquarters on January 9.
Mizan allegedly picked up 25-year-old Moriam Akter Eko from in front of her Panthapath house on July 15 last year and then forcibly married her, according to a statement of Moriam's mother Queen Talukdar.
Besides, the same police official's name surfaced in the media for allegedly picking up a female news presenter of a private television channel at gunpoint last month.
