Baby girl rescued from Mirpur dustbin gets a name
The baby girl, who was rescued from a dustbin in Mirpur, has been given a name by the nurses of the neonatal ward of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Nurses named the baby girl Anisha, who is now being treated at Special Care Baby Unit of the neonatal ward.
Since the baby girl is being treated at the hospital and is undergoing different medical tests, she has been given a name by the nurses to serve the formalities, Manisha Banerjee, in-charge of the neonatal ward of DMCH, told The Daily Star.

However, Md Zakir Hossain, deputy director of DMCH, told The Daily Star that he did not know about it and that the baby has not been given any name officially yet.
The baby was rescued when she was just a day old from a dustbin on the Ashulia-Mirpur-Beribadh road in Shah Ali area of Dhaka’s Mirpur on March 11.
"Since the baby girl is being treated at the hospital and is undergoing different medical tests, she has been given a name by the nurses to serve the formalities."

The baby had been breastfed by lactating mothers for a few days and then the doctors decided to make her habituated with milk solutions, Manisha Banerjee said.
“She is still not out of danger. The platelet level of her blood is decreasing gradually. However, she is able to digest her food, and quantity of her food is also being increased gradually,” the doctor added.
Meanwhile, four families have so far submitted an application to the court to adopt the baby girl, Biplob Hossain, who rescued the baby from the dustbin, told Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
