Anonymous persons sued over Dhaka hotel raid

Police have sued unnamed persons over the death of who police described as a Neo JMB militant during a hotel raid in Dhaka’s Panthapath Tuesday.

Sub-Inspector Syed Imrul Shahed filed the case under anti-terrorism act last night, Abdus Salam, a duty officer of Kalabagan Police Station, told The Daily Star.

Saiful Islam, a suspected suicide bomber, was killed during an anti-militancy operation at Hotel Olio International as the country was observing national mourning day.

Yesterday, Dhaka police chief said Saiful had some associates with him and that police were trying to arrest the acquaintances and those who sent him to trigger an attack.

The hotel is around half a kilometre off Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, the house where the Father of the Nation was assassinated along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975.
