BFUJ, DUJ leaders for scrapping of section 57
Leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) today demanded repeal of the section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
Terming the section a “black law”, they said the particular provision is a machinery to oppress journalists and urged the government to scrap it.

They came up with the call at a rally in front of Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka this morning.
The journalist leaders also demanded immediate implementation of the ninth wage.

Their other demands include end to “torture and harassment” of journalists and reopening of the media shut down by incumbent Awami League government.
Pro-BNP journalist and acting editor of daily Amar Desh, Mahmudur Rahman and President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Ruhul Amin Gazi, among others, attended the programme.
