HC clears way for Imran H Sarker to go abroad
The High Court today cleared the way for Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker to go abroad and return to the country.
The court ordered the government not to interfere in the movement of Imran and not to harass him while leaving the country and returning home from abroad, Deputy Attorney General Amatul Karim Swapna told The Daily Star.
The HC bench of Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Md Shohrowardi passed the order following a writ petition filed by Imran challenging the legality of the immigration police’s action to bar him on July 20 from boarding a plane at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
On that day, he (Imran) was leaving the country for the United States to attend events of the US State Department and Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.
Today, the Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson filed the writ petition with the HC seeking its directive on the authorities concerned of the government and not to create any obstruction to his leaving the country and returning home from abroad.
Barrister M Amir-Ul Islam and Barrister Tania Amir appeared for Imran.
