5 lawyers apologise before High Court for shouting
Five lawyers today offered unconditional apology to the High Court for obstructing the court proceedings, shouting in the courtroom and assaulting a bench officer on June 19.
They also submitted statements before the HC explaining their role in connection with the incident.
The five lawyers are Nur-e-Alam Uzzal, Motilal Bepari, Billah Hosain Lijen Patwari, BM Sultan Mahmud and Mohammad Ali.
After receiving the statements, the HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Ahmed Choudhury fixed July 20 for passing order on the issue.
The HC on June 19 ordered the five Supreme Court lawyers to submit their statements.
It also issued a ruling on a suomoto (of its own) move asking the lawyers to explain in 10 days why action should not be taken against them for committing contempt of court by obstructing its proceeding and shouting in the courtroom.
