Poet Belal Chowdhury on life support

Prominent poet Belal Chowdhury, 79, who has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka with multiple ailments, was put on life support this afternoon.

“He was put on life support around 3:48pm as his condition deteriorated”, an official at Anwer Khan Modern Hospital told The Daily Star on condition of anonymity.

Chowdhury was admitted to the hospital on November 2 last with various old age complications, including kidney problem and anemia, sources at the hospital said.

He has been receiving treatment under the supervision of Prof Dr Firoz Ahmed Quraishi.
