10 Biman officials get bail
A Dhaka court today granted ad-interim bail to 10 officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines after they surrendered seeking bail in a case filed for embezzling over Tk 118 crore through misuse of power.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Senior Special Judge’s Court of Dhaka passed the order after the accused surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case.
The accused are: former assistant managers (commercial) Lutfe Jamal, Mosharrof Hossain Talukder, Rajib Hasan, Nasir Uddin Talukder, KN Alam, Syed Ahmed Patwari, Monir Ahmed Majumder and Fazlul Haq, former manager (import) AKM Manjurul Haq and former assistant manager (commercial) Md Shahjahan.
Four other accused -- former assistant managers (commercial) Shahidul Islam, Aminul Haq Bhuiyan, Anup Kumar Barua and Arif Ullah, acting GM (cargo) did not secure bail from any court.
Earlier on December 17 last year, the same court granted bail to two other accused -- Mohammad Ali Ahsan, former general manager (cargo), and Iftekhar Hossain Chowdhury, former manager (export) of cargo department.
On December 3, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested the duo from the capital’s Segunbagicha area.
ACC Deputy Director Nasir Uddin on December 3 filed the case with its integrated district office against 16 people including the 10 accused for their alleged involvement with embezzling over Tk 118 crore through misuse of power.
