Blasts near Rangpur university VC house
Two crude bombs were blasted near the residence of Begum Rokeya University Vice Chancellor’s house located inside the campus in Rangpur early today.
One crude bomb was exploded inside the premises of the residence and the other outside around 3:00am, said Shafiqul Islam, the sub-inspector in-charge of the police camp shouldering the security of the university campus.
Vice Chancellor AKM Nur-un-Nabi was inside his house during the blasts. Police said that a case will be filed over the matter, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo. Rangpur police’s senior assistant superintendent Ashok Kumar Pal visited the blast site today morning.
The university is closed for about five months now in face of movement from teachers and staffs demanding permanent employment and other facilities.
