Buet admission test held

The first-year admission test for the academic session 2019-20 of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) was held today amid tight security.

Students entered the campus in lines from 7:00 am as the three-hour admission test began at 9:00am.

Mobile phones, smartwatches or any other electronic devices are not allowed in the exam centres while candidates can only bring admit card, pen/pencil and calculators of approved models (details in prospectus) with them.

However, BUET authorities have requested the admission seekers to be present on the campus between 7:00am to 8:00am

Traffic movement was restricted for seven hours on roads adjacent to BUET due to the examination. All examinees and road users of nearby areas were requested to be conscious about this matter while vehicles from Azimpur/Lalbagh were requested to use alternate route from 7:00am to 9:00am, avoiding roads adjacent to Palashi-Jagannath hall.

The admission test was uncertain till Saturday due to the student protest on the campus following the death of Buet student Abrar Fahad, who was beaten to death allegedly by some Bangladesh Chhatra League men in a dormitory between October 6 and 7.

Considering the admission tests, the students later relaxed their protest programme for yesterday and today. They may declare their next course of action tomorrow.
