Bus runs over man on Kalshi flyover

A private service holder died this morning, run over by a speeding bus in Dhaka’s Kalshi flyover.

Deceased Sejan Shahriar Sourov, 28, worked at Teach for Bangladesh in Uttara. He was a former student of Geography at Jahangirnagar University.

Sourav was on his motorcycle on the flyover when a Boshumoti Paribahan bus ran him over around 9:30am, Sub-inspector Md Asaduzzaman of Cantonment Police Station said.

Ahmed Juel, a friend of Sourov who was present at the spot, said the victim fell off his bike when the bus hit him and the bus dragged him along for a while.

Locals took him to Kurmitola General Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Police seized the bus, but the driver and helper are absconding.

The wife of the deceased has filed a case with Cantonment Police Station. The body was handed over to the bereaved family members without an autopsy.
