Cabin crew held with gold at Dhaka airport
Customs intelligence detained a cabin crew of Kuwait Airways with over 500 grammes of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early today.
Aslam Omor Belim, 45, was detained when a Kuwait Airways flight, KU 283, carrying him landed at the airport around 5:30am, said Umme Nahida Akter, an assistant director of customs intelligence at the airport.
The estimated value of the seized gold, which includes four bars weighing 10 tolas each and 82 grammes of ornaments, is Tk 25 lakh.
Acting on a tip off, customs intelligence searched him and seized the gold from his possession, the official added.
Legal action to be taken against him, Nahida said.
