DB inspector hurt in last night's raid, dies
A policeman who was shot late last night after police cordoned off a house in Madhya Pirerbagh area of Mirpur during a raid, died at a hospital in Dhaka.
Md Jalal Uddin, inspector of Detective Branch of police, succumbed at Square Hospitals during the wee hours of today, Wahiduzzaman, inspector (investigation) of Mirpur Police Station, told The Daily Star.
Around 11:30pm yesterday, teams from the DB and Mirpur Police Station conducted the raid at the house following a tip-off that armed suspects were holed up there, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said from the spot soon after the incident.
He said the suspects fired at police and fled through the back door of the building.
Jalal Uddin was shot in his head and was bleeding profusely, police said.
