‘Criminal’ killed in ‘gunfight’ with Rab
An alleged criminal was killed and two members of Rapid Action Battalion were injured during a “gunfight” in Mohakhali area of Dhaka early today.
The deceased was identified as Bangkok Sumon, said a text SMS sent to media by Rab’s legal and media wing.
The elite force members also recovered a pistol, one magazine, two ammunition and sharp weapons from the spot.
The shootout took place near IPH pond, on the western side of Mohakhali 'Sattala Slum' between the members of Rab-1 and miscreants around 3:00am, private news agency UNB quoted Mostak Ahmed, a sub-inspector of Banani Police Station, as saying.
After a short exchange of fire, the criminals fled the scene leaving Sumon in a pool of blood.
Sumon died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the SI quoted Rab-1 members as saying.
The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
