Chawkbazar tragedy: Wife gets husband's body after 21 days

Wife of a rickshaw puller today got her husband's body, 21 days after the devastating Chawkbazar fire.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) identified the body of her husband Golam Mustafa, 39, who hailed from Pirojpur of Rangpur and four more victims of the fire through DNA tests.

While receiving the body of her husband, Jasmine Begum, 30, told The Daily Star that she came to know that Mostafa has been identified this morning.

From then on she was all tears at the Dhaka Medical College morgue the whole day and couldn't utter any words other than those of sorrow, worries and fear for the future.

The only belonging she and her three sons -- Jihad, 12, Jibon, 7, and Jisan, 5 -- now have is a thatched house in their village, she said.

Now, she has no clue as to what the future may have in store for them.
