Dhaka cop comes under attack, 3 held
Unknown miscreants attacked a policeman at Babubazar in Dhaka last night.
The injured -- Constable Waliullah, 45, of Court police – is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Sub-inspector Bachhu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, told The Daily Star.
“The cop suffered knife injuries in his back,” said Bachhu Mia.
Some six to seven miscreants attacked Waliullah around 12:30am near the Babubazar bridge when he was going to Dhaka District Judge’s Court in Sadarghat, said SI of Dhaka Kotwali Police Station Abu Taleb.
Hearing screams of the injured, locals along with the help of duty police nabbed three gang members -- Rezaul, Rakib and Rana, said the SI. Police also seized a knife from their possession, he added.
“Waliullah was in civil dress during the attack,” Abu Taleb said adding that the miscreants might have targeted him for snatching.
