DNCC, DSCC find Aedes larvae in 22 buildings
Dhaka north and south city corporations have found Aedes larvae in 22 buildings after inspecting a total of 379 buildings.
The building owners were also fined Tk 4.44 lakh in total.
In the DNCC areas, five mobile courts as part of the corporation’s combing operation inspected 261 buildings and found Aedes breeding grounds in 18 houses today, according to a press release from DNCC.
At this time, the owners were fined a total of Tk 4 lakh for housing Aedes larvae.
Since Tuesday, the DNCC officials have found Aedes larvae in 56 buildings after inspecting 658 buildings of Gulshan and Banani areas, the release said.
Meanwhile, Dhaka South City Corporation today inspected 118 houses and fined six of those a total of Tk 44,000 after finding larvae of Aedes mosquito and unclean environment.
Mobile courts of the DSCC conducted the drive in Moghbazar, Hazaribagh, Fakirapul, and Hatkhola areas, said Uttam Kumar Roy, public relations officer of the city corporation.
Both Dhaka south and north city corporations are conducting such drives as a result of unprecedented rise of dengue cases this year.
Currently, the authorities of the city corporations are using insecticides twice a day -- one in the morning to kill the larvae and the other in the evening to kill the adult mosquitoes.
DNCC and DSCC are using newly arrived insecticides Malathion and Deltamethrin respectively, the official said.
Besides, awareness campaign is being conducted at schools and residential areas in the capital.
