6 detained over double murder in Dhanmondi
Police have detained six people for interrogation in connection the double murder at a flat in the capital’s Dhanmondi area last night.
“Six people were detained for interrogation over the murder,” said Abdulla Hil Kafi, additional deputy commissioner (Dhanmondi zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The police official also said that they are looking for female house help, who joined her work at the house on the day of murder.
Quoting CCTV footage, police said the new domestic help entered the building along with Bachchu, a bodyguard of Afroza’s son-in-law Kazi Monir Uddin Tarin.
After some times, the domestic help exited the building normally, police added.
Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi police station, told The Daily Star that no case was filed over the double murder till today’s noon.
A woman and a female domestic help were found murdered in a flat in the capital’s Dhanmondi area last night. The victims are Afroza Begum, 65, and her domestic help Bithi, 17. Police found deep cuts to the victims’ throats.
The two were killed hours after Afroza recruited a new female domestic help, who was absconding since the double murder, said police.
Afroza’s family members said she used to live in one of the apartments of his son-in-law Kazi Monir Uddin Tarin, deputy managing director of Creative Group. Monir lived with his family at an adjacent flat.
