Canal grabbers won’t be spared: Sayeed Khokon

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon today warned the canal grabbers, saying none of them will be spared.

“Land grabbers, whoever they are, will not be let off the hook,” he said while visiting the cleaning work of Kutubkhali canal in Dholairpar.

The 2.1-kilometre long canal has been filled with hyacinth and domestic wastes.

“Drive to free canals from illegal occupation is very important as they are the lifeline of modern Dhaka,” he said. “We want to make the canal water flow again.”

Illegal structures from 74-km area in Dhaka-Narayanganj-Demra area have been removed, the mayor said. The eviction drive was conducted with the help of army.
