Ethnic groups protest at Shaheed Minar for land rights
Representatives of the ethnic community are staging a token hunger strike at the Central Shaheed Minar demanding for their land rights.
Hundreds were staging the protest demanding reform to the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Land Dispute Resolution Commission Act and implementation of the peace treaty of 1997.
“Not implementing the peace treaty of ’97 would be a betrayal,” Mujahidul Islam Selim, president of Communist Party of Bangladesh, said at the programme.
Cultural personalities and activists Ramendu Majumder, Nasiruddin Yousuf Bachchu and other important personalities are present at the programme and have declared solidarity with its cause.
