Ex-NSU student ‘missing’ from Ctg, rescued in Dhaka

A former student of North South University was rescued from Bashundhara area of Dhaka today, three days after he went missing from Chittagong.

Zunaid Hossain Akib, 25, also a businessman, of Kusumbag Residential area of the port city, completed his undergraduate degree from the NSU last April.

His driver Mohammed Mostafa, 30, who also remained traceless since Monday afternoon, was also rescued from Chittagong, reports our local correspondent.

Akib went to Agrabad area with his driver for processing some visa documents, according to the family members.

Later on last night, his car was found in front of the parking lot of Chittagong Diabetic General Hospital.

Police traced Akib in Dhaka by tracking his mobile phone early today, said Zahangir Alam, assistant commissioner (Panclahsh Zone) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.

“On information, I phoned Akib and he said he was left on a dark road blindfolded,” said Abul Manzur, brother-in-law of the businessman.

Later, he informed a relative in Dhaka, who rescued Akib from near the Bashundara convention centre, he said.

Meanwhile, driver Md Mostafa, 30, who also went missing with Akib returned to Akib’s house in Kusumbag area of Khulsi around 3:00am, he said.

Mostafa was also found blindfolded near the port connecting road in Chittagong, said Manzur.
