Ex-power co. brass jailed 3yrs for graft
A former top official of Power Grid Company Ltd, an institution under Power Development Board, has been jailed on charges of corruption.
A Dhaka court gave Arshad Hossain, former deputy manager of the company, for not filing his wealth statement before Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Judge Md Ataur Rahman of the Special Judge Court-1 also fined him Tk 50 lakh over the charges while delivering verdict in his absence.
According to the ruling, his sentence will come to effect from the time of his capture or surrender.
Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case against him with Dhanmondi Police Station on June 2010.
