Feasibility study for Chattogram metro rail project soon: Quader
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the feasibility study for a metro rail project in Chattogram city will begin soon as per the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Prime minister asked me to start the feasibility study for metro rail project in Chattogram port city,” he said while speaking at a press conference at the ministry on contemporary affairs.
The minister also said as per the directive of the prime minister, he asked the secretary of the ministry and all the concerned officials to begin immediately the feasibility study for the project.
The Executive Committee on National Economic Council approved the Metro Rail scheme in Dhaka on December 2012.
Work on MRT-6 between Uttara and Motijheel, the country’s first metro rail project, has made 30.05 per cent progress as of September and the lines are expected to open on December 16, 2021, when the country will be celebrating the golden jubilee of independence.
