Fire at textile mill in Shyampur

Fire broke out at a textile mill in Jatrabari’s Shyampur area in capital Dhaka early today. No casualties were incurred.

The fire at Lucky Textile Mills sparked around 4:30am and was put out around 9:00am, Rasel Shikder, duty officer at Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters told The Daily Star.

Seven fire fighting units doused the fire and rescued 31 people – mostly workers – who were stranded on the roof, he told The Daily Star. No workers or anyone else were harmed.

The cause of the fire or losses incurred was yet to be determined when last reported.

Lucky Textile Mill is housed in a six-storied building located in Jatrabari’s Shyampur. The fire is believed to have originated from the third floor, used as warehousing facility.
