Gold recovered from man’s rectum at Dhaka airport

Customs officials detained a person with 15 gold bars hidden inside his rectum at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today.

Soon after boarding off from a flight of Bangladesh Biman from Malaysia, Samrat Sahol was challenged by the intelligence officials for having gold bars with him, Mohammad Jakaria, assistant director of customs intelligence told The Daily Star.

Later, Samrat was taken to a hospital in Uttara for x-ray.

He admitted of carrying the gold bars there and later managed to push 15 gold bars weighing 1.5 kgs through his rectum at the airport toilet, the official added. 

Another passenger of the same flight, MS Bhuiyan, was also detained along with 500 grams of gold.

The value of the total gold is about Tk 1 crore.
