Govt gets 3 days more for gazette on judges' discipline
The Supreme Court today gave three days more to the government for the issuance of a gazette notification on the disciplinary rules of the lower court judges.
The five member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, who is performing functions of the chief justice, granted the time following a prayer moved by Attorney General Mahbubey Alam seeking one week time.
The AG said that the government has finalised the disciplinary rules for the lower court judges and it has been sent to the president for his approval.
Once the process is completed, the law ministry will issue a gazette notification to this effect, the attorney general said.
The apex court fixed December 13 for hearing the Mazdar Hossain case, known as judiciary separation case in which the issuance of gazette notification on the disciplinary rules is linked.
The Supreme Court has so far given time to the government 28 times for issuing the gazette notification.
On Friday, Law minister Anisul Huq said that a gazette notification on the disciplinary rules for the lower court judges might be issued next week.
On December 3, the SC gave time to the government till December 10 for issuing the gazette notification.
